Nobody’s perfect, especially when it comes to yoga. Every practice is different, and you should never compare yourself to other people or previous practices of your own. We want you to get the most out of your practice at our studios. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned pro, these easy fixes will benefit your time on the mat. Fine-tune your practice and see what a difference these tips make!
Holding your breath: The worst thing you can do while holding an intense pose is hold your breath, too! Without constant breathing, you aren’t getting oxygen to your muscles. You won’t be able to support your body unless you’re breathing properly – meaning deep, big breaths.
Overeating before practice: After devouring a huge dinner, yoga probably isn’t the best choice. Your practice is at its best when your stomach isn’t full. You’re able to move easier and go deeper into certain poses. Of course, a pre-yoga snack is more than encouraged!
Skipping cool down: Your practice isn’t over until your cool down’s done! This final phase focuses on stretching your muscles and relaxing. Cool downs prevent soreness and lower your heart rate and blood pressure, so you’re not dizzy when you leave the studio. Besides, who wants to skip out on one of the best poses: Final Savasana!
